The Rainbow Run is a 5k sponsored fun run where participants run with friends, family and colleagues through different coloured paint stations along the course and get covered in bright powder paint. Participants can walk or run – it doesn’t matter as long as they have fun!

Sunday 29th June is the date to put in your diary!  This fantastic new event will be happening on the World War II airfield, (Trebelsue) at RAF St Mawgan, on the outskirts of Newquay and on the beautiful North Cornish coastline.

Ann’s Cottage are proud sponsors of the event and Owner and Director Rob Harris says “As soon as we heard about this event we wanted to get involved.  We are so happy to be sponsoring something so colourful and exciting for such a worthwhile cause. It will be a lot of fun so you won’t want to miss it!”

This run is not a competition; it is about having a lot of fun, getting colourful and being part of something completely new in Cornwall whilst supporting CHSW. It is also a chance to go ‘behind the wire’ and run around the original runway used in the Second World War and even past old nuclear bomb dumps!

Events Fundraiser for CHSW, Sarah Stott, says “CHSW organised this event in Bristol last year and it went down a storm, so we are extremely excited to be introducing the Rainbow Run to Cornwall this summer – it is going to be a lot of fun and very colourful! We are so grateful to Ann’s Cottage for generously sponsoring the event as this means that even more sponsorship money raised by participants will go towards the running of our beautiful hospice, Little Harbour.”

Little Harbour is located in Porthpean near St Austell and is a sanctuary for children with life limiting illnesses and their families to visit.  The dedicated Care Team look after the children on a one to one or two to one basis to ensure that however complicated their needs are, they are met. There is also a dedicated sibling team who organise activities for the brothers and sisters of the poorly children which ensures that they have someone to play with, as well as have a listening ear for any questions they may not want to ask mum and dad.

The hospice accommodates families for respite stays, palliative care as well as emergency stays, end of life care and bereavement support. These breaks give families the chance to forget about the rest of the world and concentrate on sharing precious memories together, whether it is in the sauna, ball pool, multi- sensory room or whether it is just enjoying a warm cup of tea and a lie in. Little Harbour is a valuable resource for families in Cornwall and Plymouth and is there at the hardest times of a family’s life.

If you are interested in taking part in Cornwall’s first ever Rainbow Run and supporting CHSW at the same time then all you need to do is visit www.chsw.org.uk/RainbowRun to register. Registration costs just £12 for 16 year olds and over.  The minimum age limit is 11 years, with a £7 entry fee for 11-15 year olds.
